NBQ In Surprise Birthday Party - In a remote paddock over a hundred guests enjoyed a balmy summer evening whilst listening to the sweet sounds of NBQ. Food & drink was aplenty as Lilla tucked into her second helping of fresh salmon. Meanwhile the family pot bellied pig looked on nervously wondering if she was on the menu! It was a first outing for John's new Miraphone and a couple of boisterous boxers seemed determined to frighten him to death with their cavorting about - aided & abetted by Paul Murphy guesting on trombone.

Mirophone Tuba Arrives - John has at long last taken delivery of a Miraphone Eb piston tuba from Rosehill Instruments - what a beauty! It reaches parts the Besson has not dreamed of. "Tubaphiles" feel free to send him an e-mail & he will wax lyrical about it - nbq@musician.org

University Wedding - The University of Nottingham will play host to a wedding on Saturday 29th May 2004, for a young couple taking up residence in Nottingham as husband & wife. More music will be played during the wedding breakfast.

New Brass Old Brass - John Lock, tuba player with NBQ, is to soon release his Besson Sovereign tuba to the musicians in the sky and let it start another life with someone who can care for it, tend to it and look after it (basically he says its knackered and he needs a new one!!), but he is to replace it with a Miraphone from Rosehill Music. John is having it custom built to his own specifications and awaits arrival of his new 'baby' later this month. Keep your eyes open for reviews and comments on this new addition to NBQ!

Pieces will inculde 'Hornpipe' from Handel's Water Music, 'Trumpet Voluntary' (Stanley), plus many other pieces in a background setting. Langar Hall is in the heart of Nottinghamshire and was the first venue in the country to be licensed for civil marriages. Langar Hall specialises in the smaller, informal ceremonies and receptions for up to 40 guests. With beautiful grounds, scenery and countyside surrounding the hall who could ask for anything more?
